Vol. 398 No. 4

Written Answers. - National Lottery Funding.

Frank Crowley

Ceist:

141 Mr. Crowley asked the Minister for Education if national lottery funding will be made available to the GAA, Milford, County Cork.

My Department has no record of any application from Milford GAA Club for a capital grant.

However the present position with regard to capital grant applications is that in 1989 the Government decided to amalgamate the lottery funded capital grant scheme and the amenity grant scheme operated by the Department of Environment into a single scheme. Under the new arrangements, the Minister for the Environment will allocate grants to projects recommended by local authorities who will also be responsible for processing the applications.
As there are no funds available to my Department under this scheme any capital grant applications should be forwarded to the relevant local authorities for consideration under the new scheme.
