Vol. 398 No. 4

Written Answers. - Mulcair River Drainage.

Michael Lowry

Ceist:

72 Mr. Lowry asked the Minister for Finance the present status of proposals to undertake drainage of the Mulcair River; the measures he proposes to commence in the current year; when he envisages work commencing on the main channels of the river; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

A preliminary design and cost estimate of a drainage scheme for the Mulcair River catchment is well advanced. However, in view of present commitments and in the light of the demands on the resources available it is not possible to say when a scheme for the catchment might proceed.
