22 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for Education the reason for the delay in paying incremental credits for service in Grenada to persons (details supplied) in County Meath; the current position in relation to the claim which was lodged on 21 September 1987; when the money due will be paid; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
The teachers in question taught in Grenada, under the auspices of a missionary society. Following the teachers' return to Ireland, both made a claim for incremental credit for their service in Grenada. The nature of the claim made necessitated correspondence with the Ministry of Education in Grenada and with the individual teachers. Arrangements were made to pay arrears of salary to both teachers which issued on the 30 May 1990.
