64 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the need to issue guidelines to teachers in relation to field trips proposed for the junior certificate and other school related activities; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
Guidelines, which were drawn up by the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment, for teachers of the new syllabuses for the junior certificate have been issued to the authorities of post-primary schools. They cover field trips in history, geography and science. In addition, in-service courses for the teachers involved in teaching the new syllabuses were organised countrywide.
