123 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the Harcourt Hospital was promised two representatives on the new Tallaght Hospital Board and that they have had no representative since June, 1989; the arrangements he is making to rectify the situation; when the appointment will be made, in view of the fact that there are currently ten vacancies on the board; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
I presume the Deputy is referring to the National Children's Hospital, Harcourt Street. Membership of the Tallaght Hospital Board is governed by the Tallaght Hospital Board (Establishment) Order, 1970 as amended by the Tallaght Hospital Board (Establishment) Order, 1970 (Amendment) Order 1984. This Order provides that the Board shall include in its membership two persons appointed by the Minister for Health on the nomination of the hospital board of the National Children's Hospital.
Dr. M.R.H. Taylor and Mrs. Ann Taylor have been appointed to the Tallaght Hospital Board in accordance with this provision.
