Vol. 401 No. 4

Written Answers. - County Kerry National Teachers Pension.

Michael Noonan

Ceist:

245 Mr. Noonan (Limerick East) asked the Minister for Education if an increased national teacher's pension will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry arising from the retrospective crediting to her of an allowance in respect of an honours higher diploma in education; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The pension of the person in question is based on the maximum reckonable forty years service and on a pensionable salary which is comprised of the maximum of the salary scale, the lowest point of the personal allowance for principal and an appropriate allowance for a primary degree and higher diploma (honours) in education qualification.

The pension was revised in 1984 with retrospective effect to take account of the honours qualification allowance and appropriate arrears paid.
