Vol. 401 No. 4

Written Answers. - Malahide (Dublin) Road.

Nora Owen

Ceist:

26 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for the Environment when approval will be given for the funding of work on the bend at Ard na Mara, Malahide, County Dublin as there has been a series of accidents on this stretch of road.

On 23 June 1989 my Department approved an outline scheme submitted by Dublin County Council for the improvement of the Malahide Road between its junction with the Swords Road and Yellow Walls Road — which incorporates the bend at Ard-na-Mara. The approval was given without prejudice to any statutory procedures that might arise and without commitment to provide specific road grant assistance.

As the road is not a national road the cost of works on it normally falls to be financed from the local authority's own resources supplemented by the discretionary grants for such roads paid annually by the Department.
