31 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for the Environment the number of traffic accidents reported in 1989; the number of drivers involved between the ages of (i) 18 and 25 (ii) 26 and 35 (iii) 36 and 45 (iv) 46 and 55 (v) 56 and 65 and (vi) 65 and over; the sex of each of these categories; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
The information sought in the Deputy's question is not yet available. The latest year in respect of which a detailed report on road accidents has been compiled in 1988. The environmental research unit's publication "Road Accident Facts 1988" contains the information in respect of that year broken down along the lines of the question. Copies of the report are available in the Library.
