Vol. 401 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Frank Crowley

Ceist:

130 Mr. Crowley asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will increase the number of field staff available for herd inspections, in order to speed up headage grant payments, because of the price of cattle and the urgency of farmers to dispose of same.

I am satisfied that sufficient field staff are available to carry out this year's inspections.

I expect that the level of inspections being undertaken in 1990 will allow for earlier completion of inspections and processing of payments than in recent years.

Frank Crowley

Ceist:

132 Mr. Crowley asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when an inspection will take place for a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

Inspections under the 1990 cattle headage schemes will take place from the end of July 1990 onwards and the herd of the person named will be inspected some time during this period. It is not known when precisely that inspection will take place, however, and in any event it is not the practice to indicate far in advance of inspection when a particular herdowner will be inspected.

Liam Aylward

Ceist:

133 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will arrange early payment of a farm improvement grant to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny.

There are two grants involved here. One has recently been paid — the other will be paid as soon as possible.

Liam Aylward

Ceist:

134 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will arrange payment of a headage grant to a person (details supplied) in County Carlow; and the reason for the delay in payment of same.

This applicant's payments under the 1989 special beef premium and calf premium schemes are being processed and will issue shortly.

Payment was delayed because of an overpayment of 1989 sheep headage scheme grants which had to be offset against the 1989 cattle and equines headage and 1990 sheep headage payments due to the person named.

Ned O'Keeffe

Ceist:

135 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a farm development grant and a control of farmyard pollution grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

These grants will be paid as soon as possible.
