Ceist:

154 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if the Iranian veterinary authorities who visited Ireland recently are now satisfied that this country is free of BSE; and if they recommended to the Iranian Government to recommence the purchase of Irish beef.

The Iranian veterinary delegation which was recently in Ireland examined all the different aspects of our beef industry. At the end of this visit the Iranian delegation indicated that they would be making a positive report to their Minister regarding the purchase of Irish beef.
