205 Mr. McCartan asked the Minister for Justice in respect of each of the past five years (a) the number of under-age persons held in custody in adult prisons or Garda stations, (b) the place where each such person was held, (c) the length of time for which the person was held and (d) the age of each person so held.
The annual reports on prisons and places of detention set out statistics, analysed by age group and sentence length, of persons committed to prison under sentence.
The further information requested by the Deputy is not readily available and could not be compiled without the commitment of Department and Garda Síochána resources to an extent that would not be warranted.
