Vol. 402 No. 1

Written Answers. - Refurbishment Scheme.

Dermot Ahern

Ceist:

248 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for the Environment the amount of finance which has been expended by his Department to date on the panel refurbishment scheme to the Cox's Demesne, Dundalk Estate, County Louth; the estimated cost of completing the scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The planning and carrying out of remedial works to their dwellings is a matter for the local authority. A total of £1,050,000 has been allocated to date to Dundalk UDC in respect of this project, which it is estimated will cost some £1,700,000.

Alan Shatter

Ceist:

249 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for the Environment whether he has received a request for £1.75 million for refurbishment and upgrading work in Limekiln Farm estate, Dublin 14, under the remedial works scheme; if he will outline the work that Dublin County Council have proposed be undertaken pursuant to the said scheme; if he has yet made a decision on the Council's application; and, if so, the nature of the decision.

The council have sought funding under the Department's remedial works scheme in respect of dwellings in this estate. The principal works involved are external wall refurbishment and the replacement of windows. The proposal is being examined and a decision will be conveyed to the council as soon as possible.
