282 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Health if he will outline whether a patient or his general practitioner has a right to see details of any diagnostic test carried out by a hospital doctor under the current legal or ethical guidelines operated in hospitals; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The record of the treatment of a patient by a hospital is generally the property of the hospital concerned. The question of access to such records by a patient or his general practitioner is a matter for decision by the patient's doctor.
