Vol. 402 No. 1

Written Answers. - Drimnagh (Dublin) School.

Eric J. Byrne

Ceist:

308 Mr. Byrne asked the Minister for Education if she will sanction the replacement of a permanent full-time secretary to Our Lady of Good Counsel school, Mourne Road, Drimnagh, Dublin 12, which caters for 211 junior infant children and whose principal is a working teacher with responsibility for children with remedial needs, when the social employment scheme at present in operation for both the caretaker and secretarial positions at the school will be terminated.

The post of clerk-typist in the three Our Lady of Good Counsel national schools fell vacant in 1987 and was subject to the embargo on the replacement of such staff.

The social employment scheme, to which the Deputy refers, is administered by FAS. I would suggest, therefore, that any inquiries about its operation be addressed to my colleague, the Minister for Labour.
