Vol. 402 No. 1

Written Answers. - Capital Airlines.

Jim Mitchell

Ceist:

54 Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for Tourism and Transport the up to date position regarding Capital Airlines future in flying into and out of Ireland.

Capital Airlines ceased operations between the UK and Ireland on 28 June 1990 following the appointment of a receiver to their parent company, Brown International Group. The air transport licence held by the airline to operate scheduled services was suspended by the UK authorities with effect from 24 August 1990 for a three month period. Capital Airlines have recently been purchased but the new owners have not yet made known to the UK authorities their intentions about resuming services to Ireland.
