Vol. 403 No. 2

Written Answers. - Halting Sites for Travellers.

Tomás MacGiolla

Ceist:

110 Tomás Mac Giolla asked the Minister for the Environment the amount of money which has been provided to Dublin County Council in each of the last four years for the provision of halting sites for travellers; and if he intends to increase funding for this purpose in view of the huge increase in the number of travelling families in the county.

The capital allocations to Dublin County Council for the provision of halting sites for travellers in these years were as follows: 1987, £850,000; 1988, £340,000; 1989, £258,000; and 1990, £425,000. The allocations have been sufficient to meet in full the council's outlay on the provision of sites and there has been no hold-up on financial grounds in such work.
