Ceist:

35 Mr. Kavanagh asked the Minister for the Environment the percentage of the Custom House, Dublin 1, now occupied by his Department; if he has any plans to modernise the interior of the building in order to bring the working conditions of his staff up to minimum statutory standards; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

From the information available to me, my Department occupy some 58 per cent of the office space available in the Custom House. While I am not aware that the working conditions of staff do not meet minimum statutory standards, significant improvements have been carried out internally and further works are planned, subject to the availability of resources.
