Vol. 403 No. 9

Written Answers. - Ballycotton Tragedy.

Joe Sherlock

Ceist:

33 Mr. Sherlock asked the Minister for the Marine if any of the surplus coast rescue equipment which was purchased from HM Coastguard was used on the fishery board vessel which was involved in the Ballycotton tragedy.

The rescue equipment purchased from HM Coastguard by my Department was acquired to help re-equip and modernise the coast and cliff rescue service. None of this equipment was acquired for the fishery board, and to my knowledge, none of the coast and cliff rescue service equipment has been supplied to them.
