Vol. 404 No. 1

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Brendan Howlin

Ceist:

162 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for the Environment if he will outline the amount of money available to each local authority for small sewerage schemes for 1991.

Eamon Gilmore

Ceist:

177 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for the Environment if he intends to provide finance for water and sewerage small schemes in 1991; and, if so, the amount he intends to provide.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 162 and 177 together.

A decision on the level of funding and on the schemes to be undertaken in 1991 under the water and sewerage small schemes programme, which caters for schemes valued at £75,000 or less, will be notified to local authorities as soon as possible. The same qualifying criteria as in 1990 will apply in 1991.

Brendan Howlin

Ceist:

163 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for the Environment when he will sanction the tender for the sewerage scheme at Castlebridge, County Wexford; and when he envisages that work will begin on this project.

The submission of a tender recommendation from Wexford County Council in respect of the Castlebridge sewerage scheme is awaited in my Department. I cannot say at this stage when construction work is likely to begin on the scheme.
