Vol. 404 No. 1

Written Answers. - County Longford Rate Support Grant.

Louis J. Belton

Ceist:

167 Mr. Belton asked the Minister for the Environment if he has recognised the special problems of some local authorities such as Longford County Council who have a substantially higher expenditure per head of population than other county councils and a smaller income base to finance the provision of services, in the allocation of the 1991 rate support grants.

The rate support grant provision for 1991 in the Estimates for public services has been increased by 4 per cent to £168.75 million. Having regard to all factors affecting local authority finance, I have notified local authorities of their allocations for the coming year which are increased in line with the increase in the overall provision.
