Vol. 404 No. 1

Written Answers. - County Donegal Water Scheme.

James McDaid

Ceist:

183 Dr. McDaid asked the Minister for the Environment if he will outline (a) the current position regarding the Pollen Dam in Buncrana, County Donegal and (b) his Department's attitude to the project; and if his attention has been drawn to the vital importance of the project to the area.

I am aware of the importance of the proposed Pollan Dam water supply scheme to the development of Buncrana. My Department is in continuing contact with the Donegal County Council Project Team and the IDA so as to support the progress of this project.

I have already approved Donegal County Council's proposal to accept a tender for site investigations at the proposed dam location and made the necessary grant available for this work. I understand that work is now progressing on these investigations.
