Vol. 404 No. 1

Written Answers. - Dublin Factory Closure.

Patrick McCartan

Ceist:

35 Mr. McCartan asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if his attention has been drawn to plans to close the factory of a company (details supplied) in Dublin 13 with the loss of a substantial number of jobs; if he has any plans to avert the closure; the financial assistance which was provided to the company by way of IDA grants.

I am informed by the Industrial Development Authority that discussions are taking place to try to resolve this matter. Every effort is being made to avert a closure. However, the outcome of contacts with the parent of the company concerned will not be known until later this week.

Information on the financial assistance provided to the company by way of IDA grants is set out in Part 2 of the IDA Annual Report for 1989, which is available in the Dáil Library.
