Vol. 404 No. 2

Written Answers. - Psychiatric Hospitals.

Ivan Yates

Ceist:

118 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to complaints in relation to facilities at a psychiatric hospital (details supplied); and if he will have these facilities improved as soon as possible.

In line with Government policy as outlined in the report on the psychiatric services Planning for the Future the Mid-Western Health Board are developing a range of community based residential accommodation with the consequent transfer of patients from Our Lady's Hospital, Ennis, to more appropriate domestic scale environments. In addition, the board are also in the process of transferring patients to better accommodation within the hospital. The board are endeavouring to maintain the facilities still in use in Our Lady's at an acceptable standard of decor. I might add that the board are not aware of any problems regarding the heating system at Our Lady's Hospital.
