Vol. 404 No. 2
25 Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for Labour if he will consider discussing with the social partners the possibility of re-timing some of our public holidays; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
I have considered the question of altering the dates of existing public holidays and to date I have not been convinced that the dates of any of the existing public holidays should be changed. However, I will keep this matter under review.
The question of public holidays is one of the items which has arisen in discussions with the social partners in relation to a new programme for economic and social development. However, I am not in a position to make any further comment on the content or outcome of these discussions at this time.
