Vol. 405 No. 6

Written Answers. - Tonsil Operation.

Seán Ryan

Ceist:

165 Mr. Ryan asked the Minister for Health the reason for the long delay a person (details supplied) in County Dublin has experienced while waiting on a tonsil operation in Beaumont Hospital given that his condition is so bad that his job is now at risk due to his ill health; when he can expect to be treated; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I do not accept that there has been any undue delay in this case. I understand from the hospital authorities that the person concerned had his name placed on the ENT waiting list at Beaumont Hospital on 30 January, 1991.

Arrangements regarding an individual patient's position on a waiting list and when his/her operation will be performed are entirely a matter for the clinician concerned and the Deputy will appreciate that it is not a matter in which I have any involvement.
