Vol. 405 No. 6

Written Answers. - County Kerry School Bus Service.

John O'Leary

Ceist:

197 Mr. O'Leary asked the Minister for Education the reason an extension of the school bus service in the Kilmackillogue area of County Kerry cannot be approved to accommodate a number of families (details supplied) having regard to the fact that the extension of the service was recommended by the transport liaison officer; and if she will make a statement on the matter, having regard in particular, to the remoteness of the area from the other pick-up points.

The standard of school transport service at present available to the children in question is in line with the established criteria of the post-primary school transport scheme.

In the circumstances, the additional cost involved in extending the service would not be warranted and I do not propose to make any alteration in the existing route.
