Vol. 405 No. 6

Written Answers. - County Tipperary Driving Tests.

Michael Ferris

Ceist:

135 Mr. Ferris asked the Minister for the Environment if he will increase the level of driving tests being carried out in the Clonmel-Carrick-on-Suir, County Tipperary area, having regard to the fact that there is only one driving tester carrying out driving tests on a monthly basis resulting in an ever increasing waiting list.

Driving tests are carried out in Clonmel but not in Carrick-on-Suir. As in other areas, a substantial backlog of applications for the Clonmel test centre has built up. However, because of the additional testers now available, it has become possible to increase substantially the level of testing from the Clonmel centre. It is expected that the backlog of applications will reduce rapidly over the coming months and the waiting period should be at an acceptable level by September next.
