Ceist:

250 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health when he will introduce regulations to allow Irish patients rights of access to all manual and computerised medical records in accordance with the latest EC proposals to harmonise laws covering data protection in the EC.

I am currently examining the implications for the health services of the proposed draft EC Directive on Data Protection. However, no decision on its implementation can be taken until the exact format and coverage of the draft directive has been finalised.
