Vol. 406 No. 3

Written Answers. - County Wexford Vocational School Extension.

Brendan Howlin

Ceist:

258 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Education is she will outline the current position in relation to the application for the building of an extension to Adamstown vocational school, Wexford.

In 1987 a major extension to Adamstown vocational school was completed providing permanent accommodation for a total of 250 pupils.

Since then, my Department received a number of applications from County Wexford VEC for the provision of a new school building or a further extension at the school. These applications have been reviewed and it is considered that, bearing in mind the long term demographic trend, no further permanent accommodation is required.

However, my Department recently sanctioned the provision of extra temporary accommodation to cater for current and short term enrolments at the school. I understand that this work has now been completed.
