Ceist:278 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Defence if he will outline the cost to his Department of providing security escorts for the movement of cash between banks in 1990.

The estimated additional cost to my Department, excluding pay, in respect of the Defence Forces of providing assistance to the Garda Síochána in protecting movements of cash for the year ended 31 December 1990 was £1.5 million approximately.
