Ceist:

35 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Health if he will outline the immediate proposals he has to deal with the present crisis in the Waterford area in relation to places for geriatric patients requiring long term institutional care; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The provision of places in extended care facilities in the Waterford area is a matter for the South-Eastern Health Board in the first instance. The board have advised me that they are not aware of any circumstances which might constitute a crisis in the present service.
