Vol. 406 No. 3

Written Answers. - Tralee, Kerry, General Hospital.

Jimmy Deenihan

Ceist:

76 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Health the reason no additional financial allocation was made for the provision of 60 extra geriatric beds at Tralee General Hospital, County Kerry since 1989 following the closure of Edenburn Hospital.

Edenburn Hospital was closed by the Southern Health Board in October 1988 and the remaining 60 patients were transferred to vacant accommodation in Tralee General Hospital. Provision was made by the board in the 1989 budget allocation to Tralee General Hospital for the additional cost of accommodating 60 geriatric beds. This additional funding has continued into 1990 for 1991.
