Vol. 406 No. 3

Written Answers. - County Mayo Drainage Works.

Jim Higgins

Ceist:

132 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Finance if it is proposed to undertake any drainage improvement and maintenance on the Lung River, County Mayo this year; and the stretches on which such works will be carried out.

The main channel of the river Lung flows through County Roscommon but a small number of its tributaries are located in County Mayo and are included for drainage as part of the scheduled works of the Boyle catchment drainage scheme. At present, works are being carried out on tributaries in the Kilmovee area, County Mayo, and works on the Aghadiffin river and on tributaries between Lakes Cloonagh and Urlar are expected to extend into County Mayo later this year and continue in 1992.

Drainage works carried out under the Boyle catchment drainage scheme will be included for routine maintenance in due course.
