182 Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for the Environment the number of applicants for driving licence tests in each of the centres; the average length of time an applicant has to wait to receive a test; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The average waiting period for a test for the country as a whole at the present time is 23 weeks. This waiting period is reducing significantly because of the additional testers now testing and I expect that by September next it will be at an acceptable level.
