Vol. 406 No. 7

Written Answers. - Dublin's Paediatric Hospital Services.

Richard Bruton

Ceist:

217 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Health whether, in the long term plans for the development of Dublin's hospital services, he plans to maintain a separate accident and emergency Department catering for children in the same way as is now available at Temple Street, in view of the fact that this service is a cornerstone of health care on the north side of the city and could not provide the same service if submerged in a wider accident and emergency department.

I expect to be informed soon of a decision by the heads of the religious orders responsible for the Mater and Temple Street Hospitals regarding the future arrangements for the governance and management of these two hospitals on the Mater Hospital campus. I will then be in a position to establish a project team to plan future developments.
