22 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications whether Bord Fáilte are allowed to charge fees for services provided to the tourist industry and if so, the amount which has been collected in fees by both organisations for each of the last three years; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

52 Mr. Cosgrave asked the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications whether Bord Fáilte are allowed to charge fees for services provided to the tourist industry and if so, the amount which has been collected in fees by both organisations for each of the last three years; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 22, 23, 39 and 52 together.

In accordance with powers given to them under the Tourist Traffic Acts, Bord Fáilte charge fees for the registration and listing of accommodation and for the inspection and production of data from their various registers.

The board also charge fees towards the cost of providing a range of other services for the industry including trade workshops, holiday fairs, exhibitions etc, research reports, listings in publications and the processing of certain grant applications.

The total amount collected in fees in the last three years is as follows:
