Vol. 406 No. 7

Written Answers. - Internal Market.

Ruairí Quinn

Ceist:

84 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for the Marine whether in respect of the completion of the Internal Market by 1992, he will outline in respect of his Department (1) the directives that are his responsibility, (2) the directives which have now been passed, (3) the draft directives which remain outstanding, and (4) when these outstanding draft directives will be passed; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

In respect of the completion of the Internal Market the following directives come under the responsibility of my Department: (a) Council Directive concerning the animal health conditions governing the placing on the market of aquaculture animals and products; (b) Council Directive concerning the health conditions governing the production and placing on the market of fish and fishery products; (c) Council Directive concerning the health conditions governing the production and placing on the market of live bivalve molluscs; (d) Council Directive on aid to shipbuilding or the Seventh Directive on aid to shipbuilding; and (e) Council Directive concerning minimum requirements for vessels entering or leaving Community ports carrying packages of dangerous or polluting goods.

The following Directives have been passed: (a) and (d).
The following draft Directives are outstanding: (b), (c) and (e).
My Department expect that the outstanding Directives will be passed in the following timescale: (b) and (c) end 1991; (e) still at proposal stage.
