Vol. 406 No. 7

Written Answers. - Tax Rebates.

Theresa Ahearn

Ceist:

92 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Finance when a rebate of income tax will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the tax-payer's claim for a repayment of income tax was received by the inspector of taxes on 4 March 1991. A cheque for £194.30 will issue shortly.

Michael Bell

Ceist:

93 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Finance the reason a full rebate of PAYE is not being made to a person (details supplied) in County Louth; and when payment will be made.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the taxpayer allocated £6,805 of his tax-free allowances to his wife leaving the balance of £800 to be set against his income.

Two refunds of tax, during unemployment, were made to him on 13 February and 14 March 1991, in the sums of £20.75 and £14.72.

The inspector of taxes has requested the taxpayer to forward his wife's form P.60 for 1990-91, after 5 April 1991. On receipt of this form, the couple's tax position will be reviewed and any refund of tax due will be made.
