Ceist:108 Mr. Connor asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he intends to re-introduce the EC land set aside scheme; and, if so, if it will be introduced in the current year; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The set-aside scheme has been in operation since 1 October 1988. Applicants who registered before 27 January 1989 are eligible to join the scheme for a period of up to five years. Those who have not already joined may do so for the current year beginning on 1 October next.
