Vol. 407 No. 1

Written Answers. - Erection of County Kilkenny Bridge.

Phil Hogan

Ceist:

257 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for the Environment if he will provide the necessary funds for the erection of an overhead bridge at Kill Hill, Glenmore, County Kilkenny as part of the improvement works to the Waterford-New Ross road; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I take it that the question relates to a proposed pedestrian overbridge at Kill Lane on the Glenmore By-Pass. The provision of this overbridge was not included in the road scheme submitted by Kilkenny County Council and approved for road grant purposes. The local authority subsequently submitted proposals for the bridge and in March 1991 the authority was advised of my decision to provide a grant of £100,000. The balance of the cost is to be met from the local authority's own resources.
