Vol. 407 No. 1

Written Answers. - Cork Inquiry on River Lee Crossing.

Bernard Allen

Ceist:

265 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for the Environment if he now has the total cost of the reopening of the inquiry on the Cork downstream crossing as he did not have the details in response to Parliamentary Question No. 203 of 20 March 1991.

Full details of the cost are still not available to my Department. I understand, however, that the costs incurred by Cork Corporation, which represents the bulk of the overall costs, were about £400,000.

Ceist:

266 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for the Environment when he will make a decision on the downstream crossing of the River Lee now that he has received the report of the public inquiry.

I am at present considering the report of the inspectors who held the inquiry and the transcript of the evidence. Because of the importance and complexity of the matters at issue, I am not in a position to say when precisely a decision will be made.
