Vol. 407 No. 1

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Nos. 4, 5, 13 and 14. It is also proposed that under Standing Order 41 statements shall be made at 3.45 p.m. in connection with the special informal European Council meeting in Luxembourg. By agreement, there will be no Private Members' Business this week.

The only matter to be put to the House is that appertaining to no Private Members' Business this week. Is that agreed?

I want to put it on the record that it was agreed at the Whips meeting that Fine Gael would take Private Members' Business this week and it was only subsequent to that meeting that they unilaterally decided not to take up that time. I wish to protest at the loss of this valuable time. Private Members' Business is a very scarce commodity in this House particularly for our group. I regret that this valuable time is not taken up by parties when it is available to them.

The Deputy has made his point. I take it that the proposal is agreed. Agreed.
