Vol. 407 No. 1

Written Answers. - Rathgar (Dublin) School.

Ruairí Quinn

Ceist:

316 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the application that has been made by the board of management of the Rathgar national school, Rathgar Avenue, Dublin 6, to the finance section of her Department seeking a nine-tenths capital contribution towards the cost of essential repairs to treat rising damp, dry and wet rot and the reconstruction of the ground floor in the Victorian building; having regard to the fact that the total cost will be approximately £58,000 and that the normal one-third financial contribution from the school would be excessive because of outstanding debts which the school have from repair work they had to carry out last year, if she will sanction a nine-tenths grant, £53,000, to the school; when a decision will be taken on the application; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I am aware of the situation in relation to Rathgar national school and my Department will be in touch with the school authorities at an early date in order to clarify the matter.
