Vol. 407 No. 1

Written Answers. - Leixlip (Kildare) Flooding.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

144 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Finance the measures, if any, he intends to take to alleviate flooding which emanates from the Royal Canal at River Forest, Leixlip, County Kildare and which constitutes a hazard to children playing in the area; if he will ensure that remedial works are put in hand without delay; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

It has not yet been established that the flooding referred to by the Deputy does in fact emanate from the Royal Canal but the matter is being investigated by the Office of Public Works in consultation with Kildare County Council. If the investigation shows that there is seepage from the canal in that area, remedial works will be put in hand as soon as possible.
