Vol. 407 No. 2

Written Answers. - Dublin Zoo.

Roger T. Garland

Ceist:

44 Mr. Garland asked the Minister for Finance if he will give details of the leasing arrangement between the Office of Public Works and the Royal Zoological Society, including insurance provisions; and whether the Office of Public Works will consider leasing further lands to the zoo to ease the cramped conditions existing there.

It is not the policy of the Office of Public Works to release the details of a leasing agreement including insurance provisions without the consent of the other party to the agreement — in this case the Royal Zoological Society of Ireland. If the Deputy secures the society's agreement to the release of this information I will be happy to make a copy available to him.

It is also the Office of Public Works' policy not to set aside any further areas of the Phoenix Park for the exclusive use of any group or institution and they have stated this in the Phoenix Park Management Plan which was published in 1986.
