Vol. 407 No. 4

Written Answers. - Late Night Extensions.

Paul McGrath

Ceist:

76 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Justice the number of late night extensions granted to (1) publicans, (2) hoteliers and (3) clubs for 1990; the revenue which these realised; and the destination of this revenue.

Statistics of liquor licensing applications granted in the District Court are recorded on the basis of the legal year, i.e., from 1 August to 31 July. The following is the information for the legal year ended 31 July 1990 in relation to premises for which exemptions were granted:

Number granted

Special exemption orders for hotels and for public houses (separate statistics are not kept for each)

48,840

Club extensions

3,641

The foregoing applications realised court fee revenue of £1,049,620 which was remitted to the Exchequer and which will be recorded as Extra Exchequer Receipts on the Courts Vote. The applications also realised excise fee revenue of £3,673,670 which was remitted to the Revenue Commissioners.
