Vol. 407 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Meeting with President.

Michael Bell

Ceist:

1 Mr. Bell asked the Taoiseach when he last met the President in accordance with Article 28.5.2º of the Constitution.

In accordance with the long established practice, it would not be appropriate to give precise details of the meetings I have had with the President in accordance with Article 28 of the Constitution.

Would the Taoiseach agree, in view of the very active role being played by the President, that it would be important that she be kept fully briefed on domestic affairs, and in view of her involvement at EC level and, of course, the situation in the Gulf, that equally she should be kept advised in accordance with that section of the Constitution?

It is not customary to discuss matters affecting the President in this House.
