Vol. 407 No. 9

Written Answers. - Dublin Corporation Flats.

Jim Mitchell

Ceist:

164 Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for the Environment if he will visit the new Dublin Central Constituency in the new future and, in particular, the Dublin Corporation flat schemes which are in urgent need of refurbishment and where plans have been submitted to his Department for approval and funding; if he will list the schemes in this constituency which have been submitted to his Department by Dublin Corporation and, in each case, if he will outline when the work will be given the go ahead.

Dublin Corporation, when submitting applications for funding under the remedial works scheme do not relate them to individual constituencies. The following are the proposals received to date from the corporation in respect of specific estates:

(1) Cherry Orchard, Ballyfermot

(2) Darndale

(3) Fatima Mansions

(4) St. Mary's Mansions

(5) Ballymun

(6) Oliver Bond House

(7) Blessington Street

(8) St. Joseph's Mansions

(9) Marrowbone Lane

(10) Avonbeg, Tallaght

(11) Tara Hill, Rathfarnham

(12) St. Michael's Estate, Inchicore

(13) Swan's Nest Court, Kilbarrack

The first seven estates listed above have been designated for funding under the scheme. Due to outstanding commitments on these projects, the overall high level of demand under the scheme and the priority ratings decided by the corporation, it has not been possible, to date, to designate the remaining estates.
