Vol. 408 No. 2

Written Answers - Road Repair Funds.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

117 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment whether the £120 million referred to in recent media reports as being available for repair of main and county roads is in addition to, or part of, the allocation made previously to each local authority; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The £120 million referred to is the estimated total of the funds available to the county councils in the current year for expenditure on regional and county roads. This is made up of some £50 million from their own resources and over £68 million in discretionary road grants provided by my Department.
