169 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Health whether the position of chairman of the Rules and Interpretation Committee of the Common Contract is vacant; the length of time this vacancy has existed; when he proposes to fill the post; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Minister for Health (Dr. O'Hanlon)

The position of chairman of the Interpretation Committee on Common Contract has been vacant since Mr. Justice O'Hanlon resigned in June 1989. The whole question of third party adjudication is being considered in the current negotiations as a revision of the common contract.
